Neue Erkenntnisse zur Akupunktur beim ischämischen Schlaganfall: Orchestrierung des Neuro-Endokrin-Immun-Netzwerks Abstract Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major public health challenge with high rates of mortality and disability. Its pathophysiology is complex and multifactorial. Although the pathogenesis of IS originates from local cerebral ischemia, it progresses to a systemic disorder involving dysfunction of the neuro-endocrine-immune (NEI) network. Acupuncture, a non-pharmaceutical therapy characterized by holistic regulation, holds considerable potential for correcting multi-system imbalances after IS. Nevertheless, how acupuncture coordinates this multi-system network remains poorly understood. This review synthesizes current evidence on the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying acupuncture’s regulation of neural signaling,...

This study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of limb motor dysfunction following ischemic stroke, and to assess the influence of acupuncture intervention type and treatment dosage on therapeutic outcomes. Methods We conducted comprehensive searches multiple databases (e.g., PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI) and clinical trial registries for studies published up to 10 December 2024. Limb motor function, assessed using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, was evaluated as the primary outcome. Data analysis was performed using...

Akupunktur bei Migräne ohne Aura und konnektivitätsbasierte Wirksamkeitsvorhersage: Eine randomisierte klinische Studie Abstract Importance Connectome-based predictive modeling (CPM) uses a data-driven whole-brain framework to identify connectivity patterns predicting clinical outcomes. However, CPM’s application to acupuncture in migraine without aura (MWOA) remains novel. Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of real acupuncture and sham acupuncture in MWOA, and to identify acupuncture-response brain connectivity patterns using CPM analysis of baseline functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. Design, setting and participants This single-blinded randomized clinical trial was conducted from June 2021 to June 2023 at Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China....

Untersuchung der zentralen Nervenbahnen, die das Gehirn und periphere Akupunkturpunkte verbinden, unter Verwendung von Nervenmarkern Abstract Background Acupuncture is widely used for therapeutic purposes, but the neural mechanisms underlying its effects are not fully understood. This study aims to investigate the neural projections from acupoints and subcutaneous (sham acupoints) sites to the central nervous system, using retrograde tracing technology, to clarify the specificity of acupuncture’s neural pathways. Methods Adult C57BL/6J mice were injected with the retrograde tracer PRV-CAG-3 × mScarlet at seven acupoints (LI4, GV20, LI11, BL23, LR3, ST25, ST36) and their corresponding subcutaneous sites (sham acupoints). After 120 h, the brains were...

Neuronale Korrelate der Akupunktur bei vaskulärer kognitiver Beeinträchtigung: Erkenntnisse aus der Ruhezustands-fMRT Abstract Vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) represents a spectrum of cognitive deficits caused by cerebrovascular pathology, affecting multiple cognitive domains including memory, executive function, and attention. While pharmacological interventions for VCI remain limited, growing evidence supports acupuncture as an effective and safe therapeutic approach that improves both global cognition and activities of daily living in affected patients. Nevertheless, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying acupuncture’s therapeutic effects require further elucidation. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) has emerged as a powerful neuroimaging tool for investigating brain function in cognitive disorders. This...

Potenzielle Ziele der Kopfhautakupunktur und Hirnstimulation bei häufigen neurologischen Erkrankungen: Erkenntnisse aus Studien zur Neurobildgebung Abstract Background Scalp acupuncture is a promising potential therapy for neurological disorders. However, the development of its stimulation targets—both in identifying novel targets and refining the precision of their localization—has advanced slowly, largely due to the inadequate integration of brain science findings. This study leverages advances in brain neuroimaging to identify evidence-based cortical targets, enhancing the potential of scalp acupuncture and other brain stimulation techniques. Methods Using the Neurosynth Compose platform, systematic meta-analyses of neuroimaging studies were conducted to identify potential surface cortical targets for...

Modulation der Gehirnaktivitäten bei gesunden Individuen durch Akupunktur am Dickdarm 11 Abstract This study investigated the effect of acupuncture at Quchi (LI11) on brain activities in healthy individuals. Sub-band power and EEG microstate analyses were conducted during pre-acupuncture, acupuncture, needle-retention, and post-acupuncture phases in both the acupuncture group (n = 16) and the control group (n = 18). Four microstate classes (A–D) were identified. Regression analyses and two-factor ANOVAs with Bonferroni correction were performed. The acupuncture group exhibited a significant reduction in beta power during the acupuncture phase. Further analysis revealed that acupuncture at LI11 mainly affected delta, theta, and...

Auswirkungen der manuellen Akupunktur im Vergleich zur Scheinakupunktur bei Patienten mit Depressionen nach Schlaganfall: Eine randomisierte klinische Studie Abstract Background Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a prevalent psychiatric complication in stroke patients, severely reducing quality of life and delaying social recovery in stroke survivors. Clinical studies have shown that acupuncture can be used as an alternative approach for PSD. The aim of this study was to examine the safety, efficacy, and electroencephalogram (EEG) mechanism of acupuncture in treating PSD patients. Methods From October 28, 2022 to May 16, 2023, this single-center, single-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted at the Second Affiliated...

Die veränderte funktionelle Konnektivität des hypothalamischen Netzwerks bei chronischer Schlaflosigkeit und die regulierende Wirkung der Akupunktur: eine randomisierte kontrollierte bildgebende Studie Abstract Background The hypothalamus has been recognized as a core structure in the sleep-wake cycle. However, whether the neuroplasticity of the hypothalamus is involved in the acupuncture treatment of insomnia remains elusive. Methods We recruited 42 patients with chronic insomnia disorder (CID) and 23 matched healthy controls (HCs), with CID patients randomly assigned to receive real acupuncture (RA) or sham acupuncture (SA) for four weeks. Insomnia severity was evaluated using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, and the...

Abstract To investigate the efficacy of laser acupuncture and photobiomodulation therapy in alleviating symptoms among patients diagnosed with Bell’s palsy with duration of greater than 8 weeks. The randomized controlled trial has been performed from May 2021 to April 2023. Patients were eligible who had Bell’s palsy with duration of greater than 8 weeks on out-patient Department of Otorhinolaryngology in Beijing Tongren Hospital. The laser acupuncture group received class IV laser treatment for 3 times per weeks, a total of 72 times. The control group received the same treatment procedure except the laser parameter. The primary outcome measures comprised House-Brackmann facial nerve grading system and electroneurography....
