Kombinierte Pudendusnerv-Elektroakupunktur und transkranielle Akupunkturstimulation bei vorzeitiger Ejakulation: eine randomisierte klinische Studie Abstract Background Premature ejaculation (PE) is a common and distressing condition with a multifactorial etiology and limited tolerable long-term treatment options. Current literature suggests that neuromodulatory approaches that simultaneously target peripheral reflex pathways and central regulatory mechanisms may provide additive therapeutic benefits. Methods In this single-center, block-randomized clinical study, 120 men with PE were assigned to an observation group (n = 60) or a control group (n = 60). The observation group received pudendal nerve electroacupuncture (PNEA) combined with repetitive transcranial acupuncture stimulation (rTAS) twice weekly for 8...

Akupunktur in Kombination mit Mirabegron (Betmiga) ist wirksam bei der Behandlung der überaktiven Blase: eine prospektive randomisierte kontrollierte Studie Abstract Purpose To investigate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with mirabegron for overactive bladder (OAB) treatment. Methods This prospective cohort study took place at Ganzhou People’s Hospital. One hundred and sixty patients with OAB were divided into control and treatment groups at a ratio of 1:1 using a randomized number-table method. The control group was administered mirabegron alone (50 mg/day), while the treatment group was administered mirabegron orally and acupuncture at Guanyuan (CV4), Zhongji (CV3), and Sanyinjiao (SP6). The Overactive...

Akupunktur zur Behandlung der überaktiven Blase: Eine Übersichtsarbeit und Meta-Analyse Abstract Introduction Overactive bladder (OAB) is a common lower urinary tract symptom of bladder storage dysfunction. Numerous studies have evaluated the efficacy and safety of acupuncture therapy for overactive bladder, but clinical programs and data were largely inconsistent. Therefore, it is necessary to summarize and analyze the published clinical research data in the field. We aimed to perform an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analyses (SRs/MAs) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture therapy. Methods We searched PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Embase, and three China databases (CNKI, VIP,...

Wirkung des intermittierenden Katheterismus in Kombination mit Akupunktur bei der Behandlung von Harnverhalt nach einer Rückenmarksverletzung: Eine randomisierte, kontrollierte Studie Abstract Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of combining intermittent catheterization with acupuncture in treating urinary retention following spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods Sixty-six patients were randomly assigned to either an observation group or a control group, with 33 patients in each. All underwent personalized intermittent catheterization guided by a bladder capacity scanner. The observation group received acupuncture in conjunction with catheterization, while the control group had acupuncture performed separately. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. Daily records of catheterization...

Moxibustion may be an effective treatment for overactive bladder, according to Korean researchers. In a pilot randomised cross-over study, 28 participants were randomly allotted to either moxibustion (8-12 sessions of indirect moxibustion at Qihai REN-6, Taichong LIV-3 and Sanyinjiao SP-6) plus behavioural training, or behavioral training only, over four weeks. Group allocation was reversed over the following four weeks. Significant and clinically meaningful changes in symptom scores, which changed from moderate to mild, were noted with moxibustion, but not with behavioral training alone. Effectiveness and safety of moxibustion for alleviating symptoms of overactive bladder: A prospective, randomized controlled, crossover-design, pilot...

The Italian authors of a Cochrane Database systematic review have found that acupuncture is the most effective non-pharmacological treatment for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). They examined 38 studies of 3290 men with CP/CPPS, which made 23 comparisons between different treatments involving use of devices, lifestyle changes, or some form of physical therapy. Based on three studies with 204 participants, acupuncture was observed to cause a clinically meaningful reduction in prostatitis symptoms, compared with sham procedures, however it did not reduce sexual dysfunction compared with sham. Acupuncture was also found to significantly decrease prostatitis symptoms when compared with standard...

Objectives To assess the effects of non‐pharmacological therapies for chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Patients and Methods We performed a comprehensive search using multiple databases, trial registries, grey literature and conference proceedings with no restrictions on the language of publication or publication status. The date of the latest search of all databases was August 2017. We included randomised controlled trials. Inclusion criteria were men with a diagnosis of CP/CPPS. We included all available non‐pharmacological interventions. Two review authors independently classified studies and abstracted data from the included studies, performed statistical analyses and rated quality of evidence (QoE) according to...

Effect of electroacupuncture on urinary leakage among women with stress urinary incontinence: A randomized clinical trial. Importance Electroacupuncture involving the lumbosacral region may be effective for women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI), but evidence is limited. Objective To assess the effect of electroacupuncture vs sham electroacupuncture for women with SUI. Design, Setting, and Participants Multicenter, randomized clinical trial conducted at 12 hospitals in China and enrolling 504 women with SUI between October 2013 and May 2015, with data collection completed in December 2015. Interventions Participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive 18 sessions (over 6 weeks) of electroacupuncture involving the...

Abstract Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of acupuncture and massage on health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) among end stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Design: Pre-post test design. Setting: A hemodialysis (HD) unit located in a university hospital. Intervention: Participants were given the option to choose between 20 min sessions of massage or acupuncture therapy once a week for 8 weeks by licensed acupuncturists and massage therapists while undergoing their usual HD session in the University of California, San Diego Chronic HD unit. Outcome measures: Participants were asked to complete pre- and postintervention surveys, which consisted...
