Neue Einblicke in die Mechanismen der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin bei allergischer Rhinitis durch die Regulierung von Entzündungs- und oxidativen Stresswegen Abstract Allergy rhinitis (AR) is becoming more common and has serious medical and societal consequences. Sneezing, paroxysmal nasal blockage, nasal itching, mucosal edema, coughing, and rhinorrhea are symptoms of this type I allergic immunological illness. Immunoglobulin E-mediated inflammation is the cause of it. Because AR is prone to recurrent attacks, extended medication therapy may impair its effectiveness. In addition to negatively affecting the patients’ physical health, this can also negatively impact their mental health. During AR development, there are inflammatory...Weiterlesen

Background Auricular acupressure has been increasingly used in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients, such as lung function and sleep quality, but the efficacy has not yet been unified. Design A meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. Methods Randomised controlled trials comparing auricular acupressure intervention with non-auricular acupressure intervention in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients were included. We searched English databases and...Weiterlesen
Abstract Background Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on oxidative stress induced by one-lung ventilation, lung function, and postoperative quality of recovery in patients with lung cancer Methods The participants (n = 80) were assigned to the sham group and TEAS group. TEAS on bilateral Feishu (BL13), Zusanli (ST36), and Hegu (L14) was performed 30 minutes before induction of anesthesia and continued until the end of the surgery. In the sham group, the same acupoints were selected without electrical stimulation. PaO2/FiO2, intrapulmonary shunt ratio (Qs/Qt), alveolar-arterial oxygen tension (A-aDO2), and respiratory index (RI)...Weiterlesen
Abstract PurposeAcute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is an essential occurrence in COPD management and is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Chinese herbal medicine is widely used in the treatment of AECOPD, but high quality randomized controlled trials are limited. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine as adjuvant therapy for patients with AECOPD. MethodsThis was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 378 participants from eight centers in China. Participants were randomly assigned to receive 10 g of Chinese herbal medicine (according to the type of Traditional Chinese medicine syndrome:...Weiterlesen
Abstract Currently, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which can lead to severe respiratory failure and death, is now a global pandemic with no specific anti-viral drugs or vaccines. However, It is worth noting that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), especially Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), has been widely applied in mainland China since outbreak, bringing new hope for the prevention and control of COVID-19. A comprehensive literature searching was conducted in 7 electronic databases from their inception up to June 21, 2020 to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CHM for COVID-19. Eighteen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 2275 patients were enrolled. Most...Weiterlesen

Abstract Purpose Pharmacological therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation are useful for exertional dyspnoea in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); however, several patients have no meaningful improvements. Although acupuncture significantly improves exercise intolerance and dyspnoea, the pathophysiological mechanism of these effects is unknown; therefore, we evaluated this mechanism using cardiopulmonary exercise testing in a single-arm, open experimental study. Patients and methods Sixteen patients with COPD underwent acupuncture once a week for 12 weeks. Primary outcomes were exercise performance parameters, including peak oxygen uptake in the incremental exercise tests (IETs) and the time to the limit of tolerance measured in constant...Weiterlesen
Abstract Purpose: Recurrence of acute exacerbations has a major impact on patients with COPD. Therefore, effective prevention and treatment of exacerbation is crucial in the management of COPD, especially for patients with moderate to severe disease. This study evaluated the effectiveness of YuPingFeng granule administration in preventing exacerbation and improving symptom score, as well as its long-term (1 year) safety profile, in patients with COPD. Patients and methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, parallel, placebo-controlled study of 240 patients from eight centers in China. Participants were eligible if they had mild to severe COPD as defined by Global Initiative for...Weiterlesen
Original Titel: Paeoniflorin inhibits PDGF BB induced human airway smooth muscle cell growth and migration.
Evidence supporting the use of TCM in asthma treatment in is increasing. Two American authors have reviewed promising TCM interventions for asthma and explored their mechanisms of action. Possible mechanisms at work include anti-inflammation, inhibition of airway smooth muscle contraction, and immunomodulation. One of the authors has recently presented some preliminary results from a clinical trial at a conference. Her team studied the effects of an anti-asthma herbal medicine intervention (ASHMI) consisting of three-herbs (Gan Cao, Ku Shen, and Ling Zhi), which has been shown to improve asthma symptoms. ASHMI was found to reduce total immunoglobulin (Ig)E levels in patients...Weiterlesen
Abstract Background: Use of laser makes efficient acupuncture application without the use of stainless steel needles. Irradiation with laser of acupuncture points can produce effects of diminishing inflammation, relieving pain, enhancing metabolism, improving tissue regeneration and immunity. Objectives: To discuss its efficacy as non-pharmacological intervention that may provide a valuable adjunctive or alternative treatment for chronic respiratory diseases. Subjects and methods: Indications were 31 patients suffering from chronic respiratory illness (asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis and ILD). They were subdivided into a control group that received conservative treatment with medication and a study group that received a 10 day course of LLL...Weiterlesen
