Effects of YuPingFeng granules on acute exacerbations of COPD: a randomized, placebo-controlled study

Abstract Purpose: Recurrence of acute exacerbations has a major impact on patients with COPD. Therefore, effective prevention and treatment of exacerbation is crucial in the management of COPD, especially for patients with moderate to severe disease. This study evaluated the effectiveness of YuPingFeng granule administration in preventing exacerbation and improving symptom score, as well as its long-term (1 year) safety profile, in patients with COPD. Patients and methods: This was a randomized, double-blind, parallel, placebo-controlled study of 240 patients from eight centers in China. Participants were eligible if they had mild to severe COPD as defined by Global Initiative for...

Inhaltsstoff aus Pfingstrose gegen Veränderung der Atemwege bei Asthma?

Original Titel: Paeoniflorin inhibits PDGF BB induced human airway smooth muscle cell growth and migration.

TCM herbs effective for asthma

Evidence supporting the use of TCM in asthma treatment in is increasing. Two American authors have reviewed promising TCM interventions for asthma and explored their mechanisms of action. Possible mechanisms at work include anti-inflammation, inhibition of airway smooth muscle contraction, and immunomodulation. One of the authors has recently presented some preliminary results from a clinical trial at a conference. Her team studied the effects of an anti-asthma herbal medicine intervention (ASHMI) consisting of three-herbs (Gan Cao, Ku Shen, and Ling Zhi), which has been shown to improve asthma symptoms. ASHMI was found to reduce total immunoglobulin (Ig)E levels in patients...

Acupuncture & allergic asthma

In a randomised controlled study, patients of 18 years or older with allergic asthma were assigned to either routine care plus acupuncture (15 sessions over three months, 184 patients) or routine care alone (173 patients). Patients who did not consent to randomisation also received acupuncture (1088 patients). At three months, asthma specific quality of life and health-related general quality of life improved significantly in both acupuncture groups compared to controls. Acupuncture Relieves Asthma Attacks

Quelle (07 APRIL 2018): Researchers find acupuncture effective for relieving allergic asthma, a type of asthma triggered by allergens (e.g., dust mites, mold, pollen, foods). Symptoms include wheezing, difficulty breathing, itchy eyes, sinusitis, rhinitis, a general feeling of malaise, and sneezing. In a randomized controlled trial of 1,445 patients, acupuncture provided lasting relief for six months. Acupuncture was provided for a maximum of 15 treatments over a three month period. Patients receiving acupuncture demonstrated significant relief from allergic asthma at all data points, including the six month post-treatment follow-up data point. Only manual acupuncture was administered. Laser acupuncture, electroacupuncture,...
